The Gold Buddha At Bangkok

This post is on request from a friend. I hope u all like it

Wat Traimit - Temple of the Golden Buddha, Bangkok

Inside the  temple structure, there is  a most remarkable five and a half ton solid gold Buddha statue which is around 3metres high. The story goes that it was cast during the Sukothai period sometime in the 13th -15 th  century and was later covered in plaster to prevent it's plundering by the enemies. The gold  buddha remianed forgotten for many years to come. Everybody thought it was plaster and clay.

It was only much much later in 1955, while the plastered image was being moved to it's present location that it fell from a crane to reveal the real gold buddha inside. Since then it is worshiped in the above wat at BangKok

hence symbolically it has come to mean that we also need to remove the layers of dust on ur souls  to reveal the gold buddha inside each of us.
